Business manners and rules for international students and people working in Japan

  • By Satoko Takeda & Kiyomi Nagasaki / Edited by NPO Research Institute for Japanese Language Education
  • Published 28th February 2020

Japanese business customs and business manners are something that even Japanese students do not learn, but rather acquire on the job as a member of society. For people from other countries, there are many things that can only be understood through experience, such as Keigo, specific ways of communicating in Japan or in a business environment and how to work in a team.

This book is designed to help new foreign employees of Japanese companies and international students who wish to work in Japan learn about Japanese business practices and business manners. It covers not only business Japanese, but also business manners, work procedures, and legal rules such as information security.

The book consists of four pages of concrete examples, explanations, and quizzes to confirm what you have learned. The answers and explanations to the quizzes are included in a separate volume. It also comes with a downloadable workbook that can be collected after class and used for repeated study.
